The Livestock Information Service could be coming to a town near you!

With some of the biggest breeding stock sales just around the corner, the Livestock Information Service (LIS) team are hitting the road to pay some of them a visit in the very first LIS roadshow.

We know that getting out to some of the agriculture shows over the summer takes away valuable time on-farm, so we are coming to you instead to answer all your LIS related questions. The LIS roadshow will take us up and down the country from Oxfordshire, to Exeter, all the way up to Carlisle (and a few in between!).

Following the recent LIS Sheepkeeper Survey which had over 1,200 responses, you told us that there are some queries over the capabilities of LIS and that some of you experience similar challenges when it comes to reporting your sheep, goat and deer movements online. As a results of this, the LIS tradestand will be an opportunity for you to speak to knowledgeable members of the team to find out how you can get the most out of your LIS account. We can also tell you about some of the updates we are doing to LIS to improve your experience.

We also want to let you know, that when buying livestock through the market, if you use LIS then you are not required to post a copy of your on-movement form. All you need to do is login and accept the move issued by the market on your LIS account.

Where we’ll be when:

  • Thurs 1st & Fri 2nd August:    Shearwell Thame Summer Sheep Fair
  • Wednesday 14th August:        NSA South West Ram Sale
  • Wednesday 21st August:        Lancaster Livestock Auction
  • Saturday 24th August:            J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction
  • Tuesday 10th September:      Skipton Ewe Lamb Sales
  • Monday 16th September:       Hawes Ewe Lamb Sales
  • Tuesday 17th September:      Longtown Ewe Lamb Sales

So, if you are having problems logging in, reporting a movement, amending a movement, needing to update a tag number or just simply want to understand the benefits to reporting movements digitally, then we have you covered. Come and meet the team and see how we can help.

Keep an eye on our social media pages for further updates – Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter).
