Developer Hub

The LIS Developer Hub provides information for software providers. Livestock Information has developed the Livestock Information Service API to allow livestock keepers to submit, view, modify and confirm livestock movements electronically using their farm software. The connection is secure and access to endpoints is restricted to registered users. We currently support two Developer Hubs; the Developer Hub for LIS Sheep and the Developer Hub for LIS Cattle (Alpha). If you are a software provider and would like to connect to the Livestock Information Service through our APIs, you will need to create an account and login to our Livestock Developer Hub.

LIS Developer Hub for Sheep

The Livestock Information Service for sheep is built on the Core Livestock Application (CLA), which helps to enable users of third-party software to comply with the UK guidance and regulations relating to the movement of Ovine species within the UK. The APIs for sheep movement submissions is user authenticated, which means you would be required to enter “Sign in name” and “password” on the third-party sign in screen when using the API. You can generate test accounts and test data via the Developer Hub to start developing your application. To register and manage applications, you will need to create an account and sign in.

The following software providers have now integrated with the Livestock Information Service for sheep:

  • AgriWebb
  • Border Software Ltd
  • Farm Matters Ltd
  • Food IT-Solutions (IC)
  • Hellenic Systems Ltd
  • Newline ASP
  • Shearwell Data Ltd
  • Systems Integration Ltd
  • TGL Software Ltd

LIS Developer Hub for Cattle

The Livestock Information Service for cattle is built on the new Livestock Information Platform (LIP). We have now released the API endpoints for third party software providers to enable them to begin their development into LIS cattle. This should provide sufficient lead time ahead of cattle go-live in the summer 2026, for all third parties to understand development and testing requirements and communicate changes to their customers. At this stage, the APIs are all in what is referred to as a ‘Sandbox environment’, which is essentially a test environment. Please note that APIs may change and will need to be validated before go-live. To find out more, please visit the Alpha Cattle Developer Hub.
