As part of the ongoing enhancements being made to the Livestock Information Service (LIS), we are pleased to share details of the latest update regarding the new streamlined process for a Vet recording a Vet Attestation (VA) for a livestock holding.

The digital capability, launched by Livestock Information Ltd (LI Ltd) in December 2023, allows RCVS registered vets to mark a sheep keeper’s CPH as having had a valid VA using the Livestock Information Service (LIS). In addition, abattoir workers are able to easily access and verify the VA status of a holding or an individual animal, ensuring compliance with export requirements.

Following this week’s update, the process which Vets follow to record a Vet Attestation has been much improved. At the point of authentication, the Vet will no longer be redirected to the RCVS website, they will instead be able to prove their credentials and complete their authentication on the LIS platform.

Vets will need to follow these 5 simple steps:

1 – Go to the LIS sign in page

2 – Click on the Veterinary sign in via RCVS button

3 – Enter your email address and password

4 – At this point you will be redirected back to the LIS platform where you will be able to select your practice from a dropdown menu

5 – Continue your journey to record your Vet Attestation

This enhancement will make the recording of a Vet Attestation much more streamlined, improving efficiency. 

Please remember, if the digital Veterinary Attestation associated with your holding has expired or is due to expire soon, and your holding has not been re-attested, you must arrange a visit from a veterinarian for this to be carried out. Recording the Veterinary Attestation on the Livestock Information Service streamlines the process of validating the VAN throughout the supply chain and provides a secure digital record.
